A Weekend of Afternoon Tea

The first post of this new blog and it's beginning with me looking like a greedy pig having afternoon tea twice in two days! I promise, I'm not normally like this, normally I have a healthy and balanced diet, but this is the start of my 'birth-week' (so named as I can never just limit the celebrations to just one day!)

Afternoon tea #1

The first, on Saturday was at The Richmond Tea Rooms in Manchester with my older sister and her family. It was a lovely place, with great food, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to review that at a later date as I did not fully explore the access due to having two strapping blokes with me who made the obvious access issues a doddle.

I like to travel, I like to eat out, go to the theatre, visit places I've never been, be spontaneous... and I don't like it when my wheelchair stops me, or hinders me doing these things.

Not just my wheelchair, but my anxieties. They're the bigger problem, if I'm honest. Before I go to places, I like to be able to find out basic information about the place, like am I going to be able to get in without being carried? Or can I use the toilet without a friend having to close off the women's toilets because the establishment doesn't have an accessible loo?

The internet is a wonderful thing, but sometimes there's just not enough information about places. So, I've decided to fill in the gaps. I'm going to review the places I visit, so I can hopefully help reduce someone else's anxieties and I can feel like I'm helping a little.
